So, I have decided to do a blog post broken down into 3 sections about our family vacation to Mexico. A little history on this resort…my husband and I got married here March 4, 2011 and had about 60 people attend. For a destination wedding, that is a lot. It was the most magical day of my life. I never thought I would want a destination wedding but I am so glad my husband talked me into it. The experience with the staff and Barcelo Maya Palace was exceptional. So now fast forward to about 6 months ago when my sister in law invited us to do a family trip to the same resort. Of course we said, heck yes and started looking at the options to go. This place is one of a kind type of place. It caters to not just adults but to families too. They offer a kids club where you can drop your kids off and they do fun events with them throughout the day. I am going to be doing 3 blog posts over the next few weeks about our experience. I will share lots of photos and under each photo, a little detail about each place that we were at….starting with the one above, this is the entrance into the Barcelo Maya Palace. I love that they have flags out front. It is so welcoming and the staff when you first arrive is exceptional. Our greeter ran right up to our car and started taking our bags to check us in. He shortly took us to the Premium Club area. Here we got checked in, made our dinner reservations, and met up with the other family members that had already arrived. It is a process when first checking in but that is because the staff wants to make sure and provide you with as much information as possible. You can go into the 24 hour bar and get yourself a drink and get your party started. It is such a welcoming experience when you first arrive to the Barcelo Maya Palace.
While daddy checked us in, me and the kiddos got our welcome drinks. They could not wait to get their hands on a “special drink”. The staff is so great about making sure you always have a drink of choice in hand. The 24-hour bar is one of my favorite places in the entire place.
The above Coco bar is one of the bars that is located between the beach and the pools. Instead of waiting for a staff member, you can walk up to the Coco bar and get yourself a drink. Again, all inclusive which means you do not have to have anything. Now, we like to tip so we always have a dollar or two in hand.
Some of the beach views when you are walking around the resort. That is a huge benefit is that you get a private beach. The only people who have access to the beach area is the guests of Barcelo Maya Palace.
This is the top floor to one of the resturants. If you look in closely you can see one of the buffet resturants. I thought it was such a unique and cool building, i had to share.
This is one of the fountaions that is just beautiful to look at. I swear I could sit here for days and think about life. It is amazing!!
Pictured above is my daughter Averie with her cousin Jessica. Jessie was in our wedding so this was her second time visiting. I loved being able to travel with them because they are getting older and can take care of our kids. HA. But really it is just a neat experience to watch these kiddos grow together. I know they will always be different in age but I hope they stay close. I hope Jess never gets too cool for Averie as I want Averie to look up to her. In the background you will see my son (Averie twin brother) Bentley with Jess older brother Colin. I am truly so blessed to have marred into this family and be a part of this time. These are memories that will stay with us forever.
Now that we have done an introduction of the trip, I hope you will stay tuned for the next two sections coming soon. Like I mentioned this is one of three posts to share our trip to Mexico. xo!!
Cheers,
HO
