Happy Saturday, everyone!!
One of the biggest questions I get is what do you take on vacations. Well, I am one of those people that truly tries to carry on but when going to Mexico and going with your kiddos, that is impossible. So, here are some of my tips of how to travel lighter…
- I always put shoes in first, and then I stuff my undies in them or socks or both. I also always take a travel steamer. This one here is the one I use. I love it but you can find some other great ones on Amazon. I also put any large items on the bottom so that way I can work with clothes in between those items. For example, we had to take the twins puddle jumpers, so we put those in first and then put everything in between and around them. Those things take up a lot of room.
- I roll everything, I mean everything. Rolling seems to minimize the space.
- I take travel size everything if I can. If not carrying on, I always put it in a bag. This includes hair spray, toothpaste, brush, shampoo, etc.
- I only pack 1 curling wand or straightener and always use hotels blow dryers.
- I also stuff all my panties in a zip lock bag. This seems to really minimize the space.
- The last thing I throw on top is my bras and my jewelry in the clutch that I plan to use the entire time. Here is an amazing jewelry box that is perfect to take with you. I never pack my make up, that is always in the carry on. Also any liquids I pack, I always double bag so they do not spill.
- I wear the same PJs daily.
- If you have a front zipper in your suit case, throw in extra pair of flip flops. you never know when those things will come in handy. One time I was wearing wedges and one of them broke, so instead of going through my entire bag, I just unzipped that front compartment and bam, I was saved. Also, I always put in a light sweater b/c again you just never know.
- I always pack a cross body in my carry on too. When traveling, especially if exploring the town, you need a good cross body purse.
Also, I recently purchased this carry on and love it. I am thinking about ordering ones for the twins for Christmas. My larger suit case by Samsonite is my favorite suitcase ever. It is so easy to roll and holds a ton. I would strongly suggest purchasing this luggage b/c you will use it. TRUST me!
Now for what to wear when traveling…
So, this is one of things I am always weird on. The reason is because I can go from 100 to 40 in temps in my body, maybe something is wrong with me. I am truly one of the most interesting people when it comes to body temperature. I try to wear comfortable shoes. If wearing shorts, I will always take a long cardigan or I will throw on a kimono and then take a sweater in my carry on. I also always always always have a pair of jeans in my carry on if not wearing, because again you never know. I have learned over the years to wear comfortable shoes so I usually stick with sandals, flip flops or my most comfortable wedges or booties. I rarely wear heels in an airport. I also usually wear a hat of some sort or at least provide one in my carry on. For one, I love hats but also it makes me not worried about what my hair looks like. Here are a few of my looks from previous trips.
